About this tour
This Marrakech desert tour is a round trip that crosses the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass to the UNESCO village of Aït Ben Haddou, then continues through the Valley of Roses to two nights in the Sahara at Merzouga.
The return route runs through the Todra Gorge and the palm-grove oasis of Skoura, back over the Atlas range to Marrakech.
With no need to fly in or out of a second city, this is one of our most straightforward ways to see the full desert loop.
As a Moroccan local operator, we hand-pick every riad, camp and guide on this route. Every itinerary can be tailored to your dates, pace and interests.

The journey
Private airport pickup at Marrakech Menara Airport, with a transfer to your riad in the heart of the medina. After checking in, enjoy an orientation walking tour of the old Medina, discovering Jemaa el-Fnaa Square as it comes alive in the evening, followed by a welcome dinner.
Visit the imperial monuments — the Ben Youssef Madrasa and the iconic Koutoubia Mosque minaret — followed by a guided exploration of the legendary souks and artisan quarters, and the beating heart of Jemaa el-Fnaa Square.
Depart south toward the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest paved mountain pass in North Africa. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aït Ben Haddou, a fortified ksar unchanged for centuries, before continuing to the Ouarzazate area for the evening.
A long but spectacular day through the south, driving through the Valley of Roses at Kelaa M’gouna — including a visit to a women’s rose cooperative — and the Dades Valley, before arriving at Merzouga for a camel trek into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes and a traditional Berber dinner under the stars.
A full-day 4×4 excursion through the Sahara, including the vast Erg Chebbi landscape, a visit to a nomadic Berber family, and optional quad biking or sandboarding across the dunes, followed by a second night under the most spectacular stars in Morocco.
Drive the legendary Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, stopping at the spectacular Todra Gorge for a walk through its 300-metre canyon walls, before arriving in Skoura, a quiet palm-grove oasis, with time to explore at leisure.
A scenic drive back over the Atlas range, with an optional lunch stop in the High Atlas Mountains, arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon for an evening at leisure.
A relaxed morning to explore at your own pace, followed by a hands-on Moroccan cooking class with a local chef, a traditional hammam and spa experience, and a farewell dinner at a celebrated Marrakech restaurant.
Leisure time in the morning depending on your flight departure time, before a private transfer to Marrakech Menara Airport.
Itinerary can be adjusted to your dates, pace and interests.

Yes. This itinerary can be adjusted to your dates, pace and interests — extra nights in any city, a different accommodation tier, or changes to the route are all possible. Tell us what you’d like and we’ll tailor it.
A 30% deposit confirms your booking — pay it directly via our “Down Payment” option, or choose “Book Now, Pay Later” and we’ll send payment details by PayPal, Wise, or bank transfer. The remaining balance is settled in Morocco.
The remaining balance can be paid in Morocco — cash (no fee), Wise (no fee), PayPal (5% fee), or credit card (3% fee, in MAD). Your deposit isn’t locked to this one trip: it’s valid toward any private tour we run, in Morocco or elsewhere we operate (Egypt, Jordan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Mauritania, and more), and it can be transferred to a family member, friend, or anyone you refer to us.
If we need to cancel (extremely rare, emergency only), your deposit is refunded in full. If you need to cancel: the deposit is non-refundable, but canceling 30+ days before departure lets you apply it to a postponed trip within the next two years, at no extra cost. Canceling within 0–29 days of departure may carry a hotel cancellation charge, which varies by property — we only pass on what we’re actually charged, nothing more.
Travel insurance is not included in this tour and is not provided by us, but we strongly recommend arranging it before you travel.
