7-Day Morocco Tour: Tangier to Marrakech via Chefchaouen & Fes

Welcome to Morocco! Upon arrival at Tangier's Ibn Battouta Airport, you'll be greeted by your English-speaking driver and transferred into Tangier for a brief orientation tour of this historic Mediterranean port city.

Visit the Kasbah overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar with views to Spain on clear days. Walk through Tangier's medina and see the Grand Socco square. Learn about Tangier's fascinating history as an international zone and meeting point of civilizations.

Depart Tangier and drive south through the scenic Rif Mountains toward Chefchaouen (approximately 2 hours). Arrive in the late afternoon at the enchanting Blue City. Check into your hotel and enjoy the evening exploring Chefchaouen's magical blue-washed streets at your leisure.

After breakfast, enjoy the morning exploring Chefchaouen with your guide. Wander the blue-painted medina, visit Uta el-Hammam Square with its kasbah, and photograph the photogenic blue lanes. Shop for local handicrafts and enjoy mint tea with mountain views.

Depart mid-morning for Fes. Drive south through the Rif Mountains and agricultural plains toward Volubilis (approximately 3 hours total).

Arrive at Volubilis, Morocco's largest Roman archaeological site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through ancient ruins with remarkably intact floor mosaics, the Triumphal Arch, and the Basilica. Continue to Meknes, another Imperial City and UNESCO site. After lunch, visit Bab Mansour gate and the Royal Stables. See the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum.

Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon.

Meet your expert local guide for a comprehensive walking tour of Fes el-Bali (Old Fes), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This medieval medina is the world's largest car-free urban zone with over 9,000 narrow lanes.

Begin at Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate). Visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, a 14th-century Islamic school. See the Al-Qarawiyyin University, founded in 859 CE—the oldest continuously operating educational institution in the world. Explore vibrant souks and visit the famous Chouara Tannery where workers dye leather using traditional methods. Watch artisans crafting metalwork, weaving, and woodwork.

After breakfast, depart Fes and drive toward Morocco's Atlantic coast. Travel through the Moroccan countryside toward Rabat (approximately 3 hours).

Arrive in Rabat, Morocco's capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch, tour Rabat's highlights. Visit Hassan Tower and the Mohammed V Mausoleum. Explore the Kasbah of the Oudayas with whitewashed houses overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Walk through the Andalusian Gardens. Continue to Casablanca (approximately 1.5 hours). Check into your hotel in Morocco's largest city and economic capital.

After breakfast, visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, one of the world's largest mosques and one of the few in Morocco open to non-Muslims. Join a guided interior tour to marvel at the stunning prayer hall with massive chandeliers, intricate tilework, marble floors, and the retractable roof. The mosque sits dramatically on the Atlantic coast with its 210-meter minaret.

After the mosque visit, depart for Marrakech (approximately 3 hours). The drive takes you through Morocco's agricultural heartland.

Arrive in Marrakech, the Red City, in the afternoon. Check into your riad or hotel. Late afternoon, visit the famous Djemaa el-Fna square as it comes alive with storytellers, musicians, acrobats, and food stalls. This legendary square is a UNESCO-recognized cultural space.

Today is dedicated to discovering Marrakech. Meet your local guide after breakfast for a comprehensive tour of the Red City's historic sites.

Visit the iconic Koutoubia Mosque with its 77-meter minaret. Explore the stunning Bahia Palace with lavishly decorated rooms and courtyards. Visit the Saadian Tombs from the 16th century. See the Ben Youssef Madrassa, once North Africa's largest Islamic college.

After lunch, visit the beautiful Majorelle Garden, created by French painter Jacques Majorelle and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent. This botanical paradise features exotic plants, brilliant blue buildings, and a museum. Explore Marrakech's vibrant souks for shopping—carpets, lanterns, leather goods, and spices.

Return to Djemaa el-Fna in the evening to experience the square's electric atmosphere at night. Farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant.
